I've always kinda wondered how fan mail works. i mean like no celebrity in their right mind would sit around and read the piles and piles of fan mail they get each day. like is there a certain committee who skims through them? (poor guys) or do the fan mail just become firewood?
and what about gifts? what happens if someone sends a celeb a gift?

They may pick a random one and that lucky person may get a letter back the others are probably thrown away. What is the point of having people read it if they probably won't tell the celebrity and the fan probably won't get a reply.
And the million gifts they receive every day, they could buy it themselves. With all the money and such. I have a theory, the gifts are opened by their workers and then they choose the ones they like. Nobody knows for sure except obviously the celebrities.

fan mail goes directly to the celebrities secretary or fan club boss and he/she sorts it out sometimes the celebrity might read some but not many of them do. as for the gifts from a fan the secretary knows where the celebrity lives and re-posts them to the person(s) in question.
