Question:
If Michael Jackon is the King of Pop, why did he lip-sync SO much?
2009-11-01 08:39:45 UTC
Okay, so I know that a lot of pop performers lip-sync. But MJ lip-synced ALOT! People say Britney will NEVER be the Queen of Pop because she lip-syncs and doesn't sing her songs live (and doesn't write her own songs). I was just wondering why do people give him such a break just because he's dead. He was great, I don't deny that, but it seems like people make him seem more than he was...Please don't kill me for this, it's just an observation i had. I mean, he lip-syncs Man In the Mirror! a slow song! And Madonna does "Vogue" fully live with hardcore dancing!

First of all, before answering this question, let me say that I'm not an MJ fan, I do think he was, is a legend, but I don't even know if it's true that he lip-synced or not.

I wouldn't blame him if he did, though. Have you seen him perform? Look at the way he dances, you have to put in a lot of energy to give that kind of performance. I don't think he would be lip-syncing because he can't sing well, obviously he can, but it's hard to dance and sing well continuously for such a long time.

May he rest in peace.

Well his shows were two hours long and MJ danced constantly. He put a LOT of energy into his performances, running all over the place.

His tours were huge with so many shows - the Bad tour had 123 concerts, and he did mostly sing live in those shows. The Dangerous tour had 69 concerts, and the History tour had 82 shows. MJ was getting older by this time, and had all those personal problems, plus it would be difficult for anyone to sing live all the time.

He wanted to give his fans the best concerts possible, and a lot of that had to do with all the dancing, making it difficult for him to actually sing all his songs. But when he did sing live, he was always in key, unlike so many other singers.

Mostly every singer lip-synchs.

No he didn't! He lip synced during the History tour because he was ill but apart from that and a few other times he always sang live and he was a fantastic live performer too.

Yes he was ill in 1997,go listen to the bad tour, anything else you find on youtube,i am shocked you think he did that so much really i am because he was great live just great!

THe reason he would lip sync is because he would dance so much!

I mean, it's virtually impossible to do both when you dance like Michael Jackson.

BYW: He didn't lip sync as much s you might be thinking. He sang alot during performances too. You can tell, cuz you can hear him breathing.

He didn't always lip-sync. He sang live most of the time. Maybe because all of the rehearsals got him pretty tired. I don't blame him. Maybe he doesn't want to mess up.

He rarely lip syncs.

And if you know this information, can you prove to me that it is easy to sing live, and do Michael's moves at the same time easily?

He could, see.

Please, do not bring Madonna into the situation.

can you show me some proof that he lip-syncs? i think he did sometimes like when it wa necessary. for example, when fans go up to him and hug him like during you are not alone. but i don't think he lip-syncs that much. and he is the king of pop!

Try singing in key while running, jumping, and dancing all over the place. ITS HIS MUSIC, he recorded it standing in a studio. You run out of air!

Simple answer - He was black, people gave him a break because they didn't want to be called racist. End of story.
