Like Lennon and McCartney, Michael's legacy and gift to us is, and always will be, his music. He wrote and performed some of the most beautiful songs ever written and brought great joy to many people. My favourite album is Off The Wall. My prayers and thoughts are with his children now. May God bless them richly.

I must be older than most. Michael won my heart as a kid with BEN!

If you listen to the words of this song it will give you some idea of what Michael was really all about.

All he ever wanted was a real friend, someone that was Trustworthy, Loyal and Loved him unconditionally.

My dear, dear Michael I do so hope that you can now find the inner peace that you spent your who life craving for?

If there is a place called heaven, look up my mum, she was a one of a kind lady who never judge a single soul. She will give you all that you craved on this earth without demanding anything in return from you. ******R.I.P******

Man... it's just so sad! This poor guy had the most strange, unreal and hounded life of just about anyone in history. It really is no wonder that he shielded his children and himself in his later years - a bit of self protection from the madness that was his life!

I do not deny that he had gone a bit too far with his looks and some behaviors but geez...after living in the spotlight for 45 years of his life, there is no wonder he lived a very 'childlike' existence.

May this great man rest in peace. Lets hope the media and public are a bit more sympathetic to him in death than they were in life.

I don't know where to start. I'm 27 and grew up with his music, as my parents were fans. Dancing around the lounge room at age four to Thriller on vinyl, watching Moonwalker, learning the Dangerous album word for word and watching each new music video in awe, especially Black or White and Scream. I was a little girl who loved to sing and dance, and Michael's music was the soundtrack to my childhood. I looked up to him. Rest in peace, Michael.

I was never what you would call a "crazed fan" of Michael Jackson, but I listened to his music and sang along to his songs. The first time I saw "Thriller" on MTV (when I was like 7 or 8 years old), I thought it was a movie, the time and effort put into that video was just amazing and continues to entertain to this day. I think his most significant work was his collaboration with Lionel Ritchie on "We Are the World" - what a beautiful song.

Needless to say I was shocked when I heard that he died; his life was full of the highest highs and the lowest lows, hopefully he will find some peace in death. Goodbye Michael, you will be missed.

All his music was awesome. There is no way you could just say one song was a favourite. The poor thing had a rough life. But if you are a true fan, you go into bat for all the stories that people say. I did. I WISH I got to meet him before he passed away. I got into a few disagreements many times standing up for Michael Jackson, and i always will. I have cried all day today because it is a sad day, not just for fans, but for Michaels three little darling children, friends and family. Just a sad,sad day for the world. Michael Jackson you shall never be forgotten. You will always be the best singer in the world. You are with the angels now.

The first album I ever bought was Off the Wall and I thought he was just gorgeous :-) This was before all the plastic surgery. I'm so glad I can remember the days when he was truly admired for his music' and amazing dancing. Can anyone else remember how state of the art the Jacksons and Michael's film clips were back in the 70's and 80's (I'm thinking of Can you feel it, Billie Jean and Thriller. He had so many great songs and it's hard to believe he's gone. RIP Michael

Being old enough to remember the Jackson 5 at the beginning of their careers and watching Michael grow over the years after, I have always admired his talent, dancing like no-one else ever could, and his wonderful voice has brought me to tears many times. My favourite song was Beat It, great beat of course, but also showing his talent as a dancer. He had a very stressful, and I believe sad childhood, being thrown into the spotlight at an extremely young age, whether he wanted to be or not. No time to play and do the normal stuff kids look forward to doing. Everything he did he did absolutely to the max and I believe his body was tired and needs to rest now. What a wonderful choir God has in heaven with so many singers taken from us too young, Buddy Holly, Richie Valance and the Bopper, John Denver, Elvis, John Lennon and George Harrison, just to name a few and now he has the wonderful talent of the one and only Michael Jackson. Michael, may you find the peace now that you so searched for whilst you were here with us. Bless you and Thankyou for so much joy and pleasure you gave us through the years. Miss you already.

My best memories of Michael Jackson has been his gift of performance, entertainment and producing the best music album ever Thriller. The songs from this album stayed no 1 in the US charts for a very long time. These were the songs I idolized throughout my teenage days and the memories of those teenage years will live forever. Michael the happiness you have brought in people's live is immense, you have touched many of hearts. God brought you in this world for a reason, perform and entertain Michael you have done this with flying colours. Ask those who miss you today. I am one followed by Billions of people across the world.

I am and will always remain a Michael Jackson fan. I thank all of the people who have taken the time to post their thoughts, it really helps with grieving to know others feel the same way. for me today has been as if I've lost a family member.

Michael has not only shaped my life but that of music, dance and performance. I met my very best friends at a Michael concert in Sydney, and it was an experience I will never forget.

I had hoped to take my own daughter to experience the string of London concerts, but this will tragically never be.

His performances were always breath taking and you need only look at other artists in the charts today to see how he has influenced and paved the way for all others to come.

forever my man in the mirror, Michael Jackson, you will always stay alive in my heart.

keep his memory alive Mike fans.

I'm going to be 43 in a couple of weeks. Michael Jackson has done 4 decades of music so I have grown up with him. My best memories are of my early high school days and rollerskating back in the early 80's. Thriller was the top album then so my memories are of those days. And those days were the good 'ol days!

To put it another way......

Michael Jackson is the Elvis of my times. He will surely be missed!

His Music and his love for his fans. He is a legend definitely an ICON of this Era. There will never be another one like him in our lifetime. There will be others who will come along and try to emulate Michael's music and movements.

However Michael Jackson had a gift that only he is able to perform.

He strives to give us his ultimate in every way.

He was an Artist in every sense of the word, He gave his all (200%).

Why, because he loved performing and the fans adored him.

As for my memories of him, definitely his artistry and his talent with music and choreography. His dancing and athletic ability was totally amazing. So many artist today have emulated and copied his movements.

He started the most wonderful dance movements everyone now uses

He certainly should be credited for all those wonderful steps.

Particularly that fantastic Moonwalk.

May god take care of this wonderful person. Michael you will be sadly missed. However your music will live on forever.

Michael Jackson's dancing, original moves and uninhibited natural style and ability are what I loved about his performances.

My memories of Michael Jackson are of a magnificent entertainer; who delighted audiances all around the world, and from all walks of life.

Michael Jackson belongs along side Elvis Presley as the most popular and influential entertainer of the 20th century.

It was a privilidge to have lived in the 1980's and to witness first hand the sheer brilliance of Michael.

Michael Was 3 years older than me. As far back as my memory goes he has always been a megastar along with his brothers and sisters. Its not until someone dies that you realise what an influence they have been on you as a person and your life. My fondest memories growing up were listening and dancing to his music. He has been judged time and time again for his life but we must remember that a life on the world stage from 6 years old kills childhoods and changes people. They cannot develop and grow up as we do. Our hero's and heroins that grow up in the limelight can never have the peace and usual family experiences that we treasure as we grow older. Michael Rest in peace never to be forgotten for the wonderful hours of pleasure and enjoyment you gave to millions across the world. This day will be like the day Elvis Presley died everyone will remember what they were doing and where the were when they heard this sad news. A life long fan

Before there was Pop there was Michael Jackson, he will always be the king of pop a music legend. I would go as far as saying he was like the 2nd coming of another king Elvis Presley. My memories of him are from some of his greatest albums off the wall, bad, thriller and dangers, an entertainer like no other and his consorts where mind blowing and felled with happiness and joy the vibes you got where 2nd to none. R.I.P Michael Jackson you will always be in our hearts and music till the end of time

Michael Jackson was the best dancer , performer and singer. There will never be anyone who comes close to what he has achieved

I'm so sad about his death, I just wish people would be more respectful.

My favourite songs are Remember the time and In the Closet.

As a child I would watch his concerts and be in aww of him, he is truly the King of pop. Rip Michael.

He was just absolutely amazing...I still remember how I used to watch him in awe as a child probably 4-5 yrs old. It's one of those memories that I can never shake. He was the first musician that I admired and I guess idolised....the older I got the more I appreaciated his brilliance. Im 22 now & I couldn't be more shattered. His music was the soundtrack to my childhood and even now...through my teens and into my 20's. Im sure his music will inspire me right throughout the rest of my life...RIP Michael Jackson..you will be dearly missed..

It's lovely to see all this positive energy and appreaciation for an extraordinary human.

Michael you will always be remembered by those that loved you as the greatest entertainer we ever had after Elvis. I hope the media present your death in a more dignified way than they did when you were alive. I will never forget how excited I was in the early 80's when I saw him perform in Parramatta stadium. He was spectacular and well worth the money I paid to see him. I have everyone of his albums and I know what a special artist he was. All my children love him too. I have followed his career from when he first started as a child performer to now - he is part of my generation. What a sad day for the music industry to lose someone of such calibre. Love and prayers to his children. RIP Michael. You did make a difference to all our lives.

When I am asked, 'who is your favourite singer', its quite obvious that my answer is Michael Jackson.

I still don't understand why people think he bleached is skin, actually he had a skin illness, where his skin was weak and started to turn white.

Not including child abuse, I must say that Michael Jackson was the most well known singer and songwriter (wait no), person of all time. I am lucky to be in a generation that got to experience his music.

My best memory of him is his dancing. Although he didnt create moonwalk, his dancing is top. My favourite song from him is MAn in the Mirror and Smooth Criminal.

My best memories of Michael Jackson is all the good he did for kids charities - But no matter how much he helped, the media were always there hounding him or making up stories on some thing or other simply to boost their sales. If one tended not to read this rubbish that was continually put out you would see what a beautiful person this man was and what he was striving to do make a better world for me and for you. Sadly his passing will affect millions not to mention his children and family. As for his music what can one say except brilliant. Rest in peace son no more pain.

I am inconsolable!!!

What an amazing talent!!!! By far a too short life and you have to feel for his family, (even Joseph) and especially his little children, we are all besides ourselves the world over, I feel for his children, I can imagine him being the best most sensitive and caring father and i really feel for them, they must be so upset and scared.

I am just so glad Michael got to experience parenthood.

Michael has always been there for our family.

I was born ill with an illness and in 2003 had a lung transplant (which saved my life), Michael always pulled me and my family through our tough or difficult times.

Michael, helped me and my brother through my illness, we both use to listen and dance to jackson 5, Heal the world, man in the mirror etc.

Mum, Toby and me would sing "beat it" or "ABC" 'ben" etc.

even my Mum would her Michael song come on the radio and she would always say" my dad is here" ( her dad died straight after I was born and Michaels song made her feel his presence)

I remember as a pre teen sitting mesmerised in front of rage watching "black or White" and thinking "wow"!!! how? how amazing!! genius!!!

Today finding out of Michael's death, the radio station were playing many of his great songs and again the man, was soothing my pain/grieving. What a legend!!! This music genius is and undoubtedly the best musician to even live!!!

The world over will miss you Michael, we all love you!!!!!!

The world will miss the musical talent, already I now I am sick of the **** crap music on the radio, so much non talent just production, being punped out. we want you back!!!!

I know this will rub a lot of people the wrong way, but, to quote Rhett Butler from Gone With The Wind, to Scarlett O'Hara; "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!" Yes, the only good points about Whako Jacko, was his music and dancing. However, UNLIKE the greats such as Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Jimi Hendrix, Al Jolson and Charlie Chaplin, Jacko will only enter The Hall of Fame by sheer default. The only difference between him and paedophiles serving time, is that he had the megabux and the power to buy his way out of anything. Many rich stars have a right to their share of eccentricity, but Jackson was a total loonie. Even Anna Nicole Smith isn't guilty of his crimes and I feel far more sadness about the passing of Farah Fawcett whom I consider a lady, even though she was a bit simple. But that's only because she was a country girl who hit the big time and at times paid the price for fame.

I cant believe hes dead at 50. What a sad loss to the music industry and all of his fans. He defined R&B and most of his music clips were fantastic. I will never forget copying his moves to Thriller and trying to do the moon walk. Only a couple of weeks ago I got out the Thriller album on vinyl and it kept jumping. It was so scratched up for being overplayed! RIP Michael.

When my dad's best friend a limousine company owner picked us up in a limo and chauffered us down to Comiskey Park for his concert ('The Victory Tour) in 1984!! It was so crowded and so friggin cool!! I will never forget it!! A memory that has been resurrected since his death yesterday!! I still have Micheal Jackson on my IPOD. He's the greatest!! I also remember at Halloween the music video channels really play up his "thriller" music video that was very hot and costs lots of money to create.

I love Michael Jackson as a Kid and even today! I managed to stay alive and happy thanks to his Music and Style even though I was born with a Brain Tumor and lived in over 5 different countries for doctors research regarding my Brain tumor! 1 year in Russia, 9 years in Bulgaria, 1 year in Spain, 6 years in U.S.A.,9 years in Canada!

There were so many risks of me going in Coma, Blind, Not being able to hear since the tumor was located in the BRAIN close to the eyes and ears! But Michael Jackson's music inspired me to have energy and to think positive and to take advantage of life!

God Bless Michael Jackson

Another example of..it doesnt matter how much money youve got...when ur body decides its time to stop functioning, well then thats it.

Im 35....the points that stood out for me of the name "Michael Jackson" was...thriller,beat it,billie jean, his moonwalk and the 1 glove.

He was a very mixed up person with a lot of mental health issues in the later years and the shine kinda got wiped off him when the molestation charges came to light.

Thoughts go out to his family and i hope that they can find peace.

I enjoyed all of his music and respected his compassion for HELPING children when others shunned. He will always be remembered for things he was proven innocent on and to me he was subjected to an abnormal childhood exposed to stardom from a young age. Both Michael and Elvis are music icons and similar in many ways. I just hope he can now find peace and that everyone remembers him for being a true humanitarian. I would like to see anyone cope with his traumas the way he did. Thanks Michael for wonderful memories and inspirations.

Awesome singer, wonderful dancer. He has left behind his music that will be played for years and years and years, i am sure. I am really sad to hear about his death. And my best memories about him are his album Thriller and Bad. He was such a talented person. It's only too sad that so many bad things happened to him. I just hope that now he is no more, people will let him rest in peace, something that he didn't have when he was alive.

My best memories of michael jackson was his dancing for sure and his voice, his albums "bad" and "dangerous". Also songs like "thriller", "billy jean", "beat it" and "black or white" and his movie "moonwalker" which i loved. He was definitely a legend to me right up until he was accused by a young boy of michael jackson molesting him and for me that just changed my whole view on him just like it probably did with most people.

I just loved Michael Jackson and am SO sad that he is gone.

He was an INCREDIBLY talented, kind, gentle man. I loved all his music

The press and other unscrupulous people manipulated him mercilessly and that was unforgiveable. But that didn't changed the way people felt about him. The fact that ALL his upcoming UK concerts were sold out within hours is witness of that.

RIP Michael - we love you.

I had the pleasure of meeting him on a few occasions during his 'Bad' tour in the '80's in my capacity as a crowd controller at Olympic Park.

The first time was when he arrived during a sound check and he took the time to have a chat with some of us.

I also met him at the motel where he signed a couple of LP's for me and we spoke for about 20 minutes, plus I had dinner with him & some of the staff from the promoter & some musicians at a Chinese restaurant in Melbourne.

He was very friendly & down to earth. He loved a good laugh.

He also loved his fans.

I became a big fan of him during that time and was very happy when he was cleared of the child sex allegations, as I did not believe that he was that sort of person.

RIP Michael. You were the most talented person of our lifetime.

On behalf of Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers (aka Turbo from Breakin) he would like to send his condolences to the Jackson family and the WORLD for the loss of the "King of Pop". As many are aware Boogaloo Shrimp inspired Michael Jackson how to moonwalk as well as helping Jackson perfect his "poppin" skills. Check out the May 2009 edition of Vibe magazine (with Rihanna on the cover) to get the full story. He will be deeply missed and his music will live in our hearts for years to come.

Loved the Jackson 5 cartoon series which was on in the 70's I think.

My fav song would have to be 'ABC' simply for nostalgia and of course, the best video hit 'Thriller' It has got to bet the most watched and the watershed moment in music history. He was weird but wonderful.

My best memories of Micheal Jackson was his dancing in his music clips. The songs I like best is a bit difficult to decide because they are all good but if I had to choose it would have to be either Bad, Beat it ,Black or white or billie Jean it is just to hard to choose he was a real icon of the pop music industries.

My best memories of Michael Jackson would be his cool pop music - singing and amazing dance moves! He'll be sadly missed! My favourite video clip of his was Thriller! I also liked Bad. I liked his appearance in the 80's, before he had all that plastic surgery.

He was one of a kind. His songs and music was something out of this world. You would listen to his songs and they would linger in your mind forever. I love the way he moved on stage just incredible. I feel he was hard done by in life now he is resting in peace and looking down at the world and I know as you watch the clouds go by they would be making the same moves as Michael Jackson did. He will never be forgotten and his spirit would always revolve around all his fans who loved him for what he was.

My all time memory was his moon walk. Many try to master but he invented that. My favourite all time hit was Thriller which my school is going to perform as a whole to remember him. I loved the song ' you are not alone'. I will always remember him as the king or pop, creator of the moonwalk, the man who always tried to have the inner child in him and the guy who gave me 50 years of entertainment.

Watching the Making Of Thriller at the local KMart and then finding out that the VCR's kept wearing out. I also remember staying late to watch the full video clip of Thriller. When my brother and I got the tape of Thriller, we drove the adults nuts, when we played it over and over again. The Thriller CD was also the CD that I ever bought.

I live in NZ and when I was about 3 yrs old I remember his hit song 'beat it' was the buzz in NZ when it came out, all the homes around the area I could hear 'beat it' beat it. Then his famous moon walk, I recall trying to do it in the lounge and my parents laughing because I tripped over my own feet. Then in the 90's I dressed similar to MJ and I must not forget, my truly favourite song 'Ben' everytime I listen to it I hear apart of MJ life up until his death exude from it. May you forever rest until Jehovah calls you back again, much love Stacy & Jackina Apiata from NZ

The King of Pop, the king of Music - The King of Dance.

He knew how to move

He knew how to dance

His talent was amazing

If only he had a second chance

To grace the Audience

To grace them well

Micheal Jackson was amazing

But to a death he fell

A death that saddened all

A death that saddened me

One of the greatest entertainers ever

No more to see

Just a quick poem I made up for the great man. RIP .

It seems like only yesterday that I was listening to Michael's beautiful eulogy song 'Gone Too Soon' following the death of Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales. Now the same song applies to its creater - the King of Pop, dancer extraordinaire, son, baby brother, devoted father... a man who touched many - thank you. May his demons be laid to rest and may Michael rest in peace.

I remember back in the early to mid 90s the music channels would be full of his songs and some of the songs that I'm still listening to are "smooth criminal", "beat it", "heal the world" & "black or white"

No words can describe his influence to the modern musical industry. A legend that will have his name carved in peoples' hearts.

Deepest condolences to his family and friends, especially his children.

wow it is so unbelievable that he is dead,

he is definitely the influence on half the pop culture today such as neyo and chris brown, and also most of the artist strive to have the same energy as he does.

My favorite songs are probable P.Y.T, the whole thriller album, the way you make me fell, and so many more.

My prayers go out to his family and his certainly he will be missed.

Also the people hating saying its good hes dead, show some respect please! Hes human, not saying i agreed with some of the descions he made but hes still human and was a great artist! hes the king of pop!

Enjoyed his early music and dancing but like so many other golden idols he soon lost the plot and had feet of clay. His ridiculous dress ups and fake marriages and trying to be a white man turned me off him, like so many other fans. I hope he now finds what he has been looking for after all those lost years.

Being a 90's child, the media portrayed him as a lying, child-molesting weirdo.

However, he was a great dancer and singer and the Jackson 5 was a top group. The moon-walk was cool too.

The news was the worst wake-up call ever. (I was still half asleep when my friend sent me the message)

Does that mean there is no comeback tour? What about a Thriller remake? He won't need make-up. (Sorry, I have a terrible sense of humour in times of tragedy)

I remember seeing him when he was very young on the Ed Sullivan Show back in the 60's. He was a talent then and he lived up to the accolades he got then. Yes he was a bit weird in his latter years of his career but we should be very blessed and proud that we shared the same time on this Planet with him. In his prime he was the best artist living and we always should remember what a marvelous entertainer he was. God Bless him and his family. We shall miss him.

in 1996 i went to a concert in melbourne it was great the next day.

the next at his hotel he was signing shirts and posters and i was the second last person to get a signed poster and there was a little girl behind me that got one and someone grab it and took of and she was so upset as she could not go to the concert so i gave her mine and michael was so proud that i would do that for someone else so i got a kiss and a cuddle from michael that was the best day of my life.

This will probably be controvesial, but personally as a parent I am glad he is not around to prey on any more little kids with the help of their greedy parents.

Convicted or not in my eyes the man was a pedophile, who used his wealth and fame to persue his sick desires.

Thankfully I have no first hand knowledge of his actions, only the media. I know the media prints ony what they think will increase circulation and not what is truly newsworthy. That said it sickens me to see that the man that was once vilified in the press is now treated as a hero.

Its so sad that he died on the same timeframe as Forcett.

She was dignfied, faultless and an entertainer who we all respected. Jackson had baggage, true or false that ruined it. He was a very talented man either way. Shame he chose to reject his heritage.

what to say, where to go,micheal was everything a child would want in a father.he did as his faith taught him, love thy children, honour thy parents.so why is that so many people treated him so poorly in life and now in death.micheal was made to grow up too early, never being allowed to be the child he was ment to be.my heart goes out to his children and family.there was never anything strange in micheal and he was nothing but a loving man, parent and brother to everyone who needed him.if only the rest of the world could be as loving as micheal was and as some of his songs say it would be a better place to live in.now that your gone micheal may you find the peace you so badly craved for,l thank you for all the support you gave me when l needed it.my thoughts will be with you forever, janine.

I bought the first ticket to his HIStory concert in Brisbane, so I was standing front and centre. When 'Heal the World' came on and the house lights came up I was waving my arm in the air to the music...I looked around and no one else was doing it. Michael stood looked down at me as he stood in front of me and started waving his arm in the air as well...I looked around and everyone in the stadium was waving their arm in the air! :)

Was never much of a fan - he was a cute kid but developed into a seriously troubled young man whose behaviour was totally bizarre. His music I feel reflected his troubled mind and I think Thriller should have been regarded as reflecting the onset of what became dangerous instability. I hope now that he can find some peace, but to eulogise him sends the wrong message to young people.

My positive memories of him are historic in the sense that they are so long in the past that I can now barely remember them. I can clearly recall the twisted wreck he became but that cannot be called positive. It's over now.

My memories of this pervert are of him saying whats wrong with inviting young kids into his bed when he was 45 years old ! The man paid one of his vitim's $23,000,000 so that he would not go to jail ! He`s dancing in hell doing his moon dance over a hot fire for the Devil where he belongs !

I was a fan of his growing up, because his music, made your day, made you feel good about yourself but even more than that motivated you to complete your day. My favourite album would have to be Thriller, that album was pure genius, I still actually have the original LP. His music made my childhood a brighter place & gave me the power to take on life's challenges. He will be missed, but I would imagine he wouldn't want us to mourn him, just remember him & what he achieved.

I basically grew up with his music. He was my crush in my teens. His music will never die in me. I imported his CD anthology from the states to Australia! I'm in shock with his passing. My most favourite songs are 'You are there', One Day in Your Life' and 'Just Cant Stop Loving You' and many more!

Blessed are those who were able to watch his LIVE performances!!!

It was shocking really.

So unexpected.

'Thriller' and 'Heal the World' were my favourites.

His voice was high pitched, but in a nice way that it was entertaining.

But what a coincidence, Farrah died on the same day too.

i am devastated. i still am in shock. i have always since i was about 4 years old been a huge MJ fan, never wavered. i grew up idolizing him and learning the dance steps to all his songs. bad was my fave growing up. and i think i watched moonwalker about a million times, i now find myself unable to listen to his music without feeling terribly sad, he is gone too soon. i feel awful for his children.

I took my kids to a concert years ago, and we all had a wonderful time. It was before his self mutilation and starting his adventure to becoming the freak, that he sadly turned into.

I hope that his children had more of a fun life than I envision them having and hope that they will not be put through a media circus again due to this.

Im sorry he turned so strange. In his better days, he was a fun and very talented performer.

That he never sought help after his horrendous abusive childhood. All those resources and he never got help, and so he then continued the abuse pattern with other young boys. Sad.
