After witnessing the slaughter of WW2, the loss of my son at 1yr 3 weeks old after demob, the death of my wife after 46 years of contented marriage 20 years of being a widower,there is little left to cry about; but this last ARMISTICE parade, and the 3 WW 1 survivers on the Tuesday, had me in floods of tears.

Reading stuff like....the end of Henry James' Portrait of a Lady, Milton writing about the landscapes he will never see again because of his blindness in Paradise Lost, some French poems I read when I was a teenager, Antony's death in Antony and Cleopatra, the end of comedies when everybody's happy ever after...

Listening to some highly charged emotional songs even if I don't particularly like them, like Jacques Brel singing In the Port of Amsterdam, or some Edith Piaf ones. One of Schubert's piano trios that Kubrick used in Barry Lyndon.

Watching classic movies, especially anything by Ernst Lubitsch.

And many many more things...
