Question:
Do you think people are complaining about Brand/Ross just to get them sacked? And the girl.......?

hasn't made a statement as she knows her career is about to go through the roof due to this (When i say career, i mean she will get alot more popular in the world of being a non-celebrity that for some reason young girls are interested in. And of course the sex starved readers of Zoo/Nuts).

I digress.

Brand/Ross only had 1500 (only?) complaints at the start which has risen to nearly 20,000 since it has been in the media. Are these people doing it to get them sacked? Are the type of people complaining the same people who complain for the sake of it?

Surely we have bigger fish to fry at the moment?

I agree, we do have bigger fish to fry!

I think it has all blown out of proportion and I really don't think they should get sacked for it, even suspended is a bit harsh, but that's just my opinion!

I hope it all gets sorted out, they were just joking around, ordinary people do it all the time and they don't get this much attention or have the Prime Minister being involved with it :]

People should stop complaining!

I shouldn't be at all surprised. The number of people that have ranted to me about it and who ummed and ah'd when I asked them which particular sentence they found offensive - a good trick to see who actually heard the broadcast! (Which I did.) A lot of the comments I've heard were from people who admitted not knowing what was said or worse, not caring but just wanting to get either or both of them off the air just because they didn't like their style of humour - freedom of speech much?

As we all know, the National Viewers and Listeners Association (or whatever it's called now since Mary Whitehouse left) still monitors output and will complain en masse whether or not they've actually seen/heard it. Put this together with the Mail's long-standing wish to bring down Russell Brand and you have a match made in Easily Outraged heaven.

Okay, it was a dumb thing to say, but it was

(a) meant to be passed through an editor and a producer before it went out - why not suspend them too?,

(b) something for which an apology has been accepted,

(c) true.

Sorry for the rant, but as you rightly say there are much more important things to get het up about!

There were actually only 2 complaints while the show was being aired. I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of those thousands of complaints weren't even heard by listeners of the show and that's quite obvious from some of the questions and answers about it on Y/A.

Strange how nearly 20,000 people will pick up the phone to complain about a radio show but don't show the same level of outrage at the government over war, nhs, power companies etc.

The British public always like to get people to the top and then bring them right down again. The only people involved who should have a say on if they are sacked or not is Andrews family and no one else.

The Ofcom brigade are a generation of idiots who overlook other things in favour of the flavour of the month. It will kill all known media in the end and then these same people will complain that they have nothing to watch.

i imagine that is honest adequate that she replaced into sacked. the following is what her boss stated: "omit Swan made comments about her pastime and the corporate on facebook and then invited different team individuals to envision her comments. Had omit Swan post a poster on the staff be conscious board making an analogous comments and invited different team to envision it there ought to were an analogous effect." It wasn't like she replaced right into a lengthy time period worker with an impeccable song record. She'd in effortless words been there 3 weeks and, legally, they did not even opt to furnish a reason to enable her pass. i'm effective there are 1001 different 16-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-olds who ought to do the pastime merely as well, and ought to honestly appreciate it somewhat extra. (and how a lot fool thinks that comments made on a public internet web site, viewable by thousands of thousands of thousands of internet shoppers global, counts as a "personal communication"?)

Makes me laugh that also, 1500 complaints, people have heard about it and decided to call in also, just a bunch of jockstraps everyone.

Though I don't agree with what they did, I am not gonna be wasting my cash calling up to complain, get a life everyone, why does noone complain about the fuel prices or the prat thats leading this country into a recession !

I totally agree, so much else happening just now, this should be the last thing people should be worried about.

I understand that what they said was a bit out of order, but all this media backlash is BS. As is it being discussed in the house of commons...what??

If the BBC sack them, ITV will snap them up, so one way or another, they wont disappear that easily! Well, Rossy anyway.

Russell Brand is an arsehole. Why any radio station, apart from Radio Cretin, ever agreed to employ him goodness only knows.

Jonathan Ross is a smarmy git, but I would have thought that even his limited common sense would have told him he was onto a loser with this.

Yes, they should be sacked and not employed on radio or TV ever again. However, the meeja being what it is, once the furore has died down they will both be offered even more expensive new contracts.

edit - ******** = armhole (YA pproved spelling - adjust spelling to suit bad taste).

Well, I complained and the reason I did was because I felt that at last I had an ear for my displeasure at the lowering of standards. I'm a young un' but even I have had enough of foulness paraded as comedy.

These two talentless turds can now see how much people actually hate them.

Probably, people jump on the band wagon & complain because it's something to do with their sad little lives. However, I can't stand Ross or Brand, so, i'm happy!

This whole thing has made me so angry.

Anyone who actually got upset at the call should be shot.

People disgust me with their pathetic lives, complaining about something so trivial.

And Gordon Brown..what a moron..well, its not like we could expect anything better from a prime minister is it?

Once a few people start reporting and causing a commotion everyone jumps on the bandwagon. I bet most of the complainers even laughed when they first read it.

I think its been blown way out of proportion.

the whole thing is amusing, it's even making headline news over here in ireland. the radio station i normally listen to, [todayfm] played the piece that everyone is complaining about and although it might have been an error in judgement to blurt it out in that manner, i don't think it's something that should have caused this amount of kerfuffle!

No even though i believe Brand to be a no talent jerk the issue is he left obscene phone messages to a innocent 78 year old grandfather . If i did that i will be in court why should it be one rule for so called celebs and one for the rest of us? And to those who bang on about that she did sleep with Brand ( yuck!) so that makes ot ok to harass her granddad then? no i don't think so by the way recent news the BBC have suspended them.

Blame our gutter press. Once they get a bee in their collective bonnets about something, it is a long time before they let it go.
