There are many "Greats"... Eddie is up there and I think we should consider guys that are funny EVERY night. Think Letterman, Carson & O' Brien.
All the comediens listed in the answers have their good performances, but I somehow doubt that those guys could be "On" 5 nights a week like Letterman, Carson & O' Brien.

When you have men like Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Robin Williams, or Billy Crystal in the mix, how can you even think about Eddie Murphy?!

to a pair people Eddie Murphy is amazingly a comedian. To people the could only throw him away. i think of it relies upon wherein action picture he's in. all the action pictures i've got seen that have Eddie Murphy in it are: "Shrek" "The Haunted Mansion" yet that's incredibly a lot all i've got seen that are video clips that have Eddie Murphy in it. that's only my opinion to permit you already know, because of the fact he even may well be in different video clips that are unhappy, crying, offended, or maybe intense, yet that's my opinion. that's a actuality that he's the terrific comedian of all time, that's my opinion and that's a actuality.

Eddie Murphy is very good, but he is not the greatest comedian of all time. He might be in his generation.

I don't think you can ever pick someone as an "all time" champ. The times change and people argue. He's funny, no doubt... But, I'm partial to Robin Williams during his cocain days.

Ya...he's the man!!! He has a lot of gay bashing in his comedy. I heard that he divorced his wife last yr & moved in with a guy/male-lover. Is that true?
I was watching Delirious last night. I loved the part where he talked about a Chinese chef pissing in the soup.
