Why David Blaine is a “Fake magician”.

When I say David is a fake magician, what I mean is that he is a lazy ******** who does no real tricks or illusions in even a slight capacity.

His physical stunts are pathetic and always have been.

The ice enclosure in NY (with that much open space between you and the ice it is relatively easy for even an average person to offset hypothermia for long periods of time), living in a box for a month with just water (the average human can live on just water for 60 to 80 days if they have even an average amount of body fat to burn, especially if they do not move much (*note that the majority of Londoners who commented on seeing it in person said it was stupid but they could understand the appeal for an American audience.), living in a fish bowl for a week (entirely stupid). Now this one was a rather pathetic attempt at using some very bad science behind increasing the amount of time you can spend on one breath under water that Blaine fell for hook line and sinker for. This shows just how stupid and lazy he can be to believe he could exercise his lung capacity (in a manner that takes processionals years to do) in just a week of being submerged in water. Houdini knew better.

Then Blaine couldn’t even pull off the final test of his little man/fishbowl.

He was obviously pulling at those last few strings for that one.

The last time he did a street magic video it was pure tripe he ripped of from others who had ripped it off from others years before.

He did the street levitation trick (elevate self while standing with your back facing the audience at and angle to obscure one foot to lift on) so poorly they had to cut the camera angles and shorten the segments to make it look more convincing on video.

There are so many magicians who actually do something NEW these days and a lazy half assed idiot like Blaine is treated like god’s own *** nugget by a country filled with an audience that doesn’t know any better.

Well it is about time you guys WAKE UP and smell the bullshit.

Stop admiring crap and have some taste for once.

It's fake. He uses common sleight of hand, illusionist, and mentalist tricks that have been around for quite some time. He even said as much on one episode where he visited a country that the locals actually believed in real magic. IIRC, I think the village had a strong voodoo grounding. Some of them were scared of him while the whole time he was saying over and over, "No, it's not what you think, it's not what you think. It's entertainment." My favorite trick he does -- and highest possibility of failure -- is asking somebody to pick a number that's between 1 and 100 that's even (divisible by 2) and then gets up in their face with an intense stare and guesses correctly. It's a mentalist trick that involves seeing if they mouth the number silently, which people do under stress and also to remember it. He does the same trick with cards as well.

All master illusionists put in a lot of time, study, effort and preparation into their awesome stunts and presentations; there's NO guarantees their illusions or feats will go off perfectly right or IF they even survive them--which is why the untrained should NEVER try them. Illusionists study, understand and respect the risks of the feats they choose to do---and do them ONLY when they're ready.

Harry Houdini had his bad runs on stage in between his awesome feats of magic illusion, as have Harry Blackstone and his son, Harry Blackstone, Jr., Doug Henning ( 1947-2000 ), and David Copperfield.

Magical illusion is indeed 100% FAKE, albeit true--BUT it's also a well respected art among those who practice it. Be they world famous or small scale performers--illusionists band together in a sacred "brotherhood", where secrets are honored and tightly kept.

Let's give David Blane a challenge: If he can find ME, Mr. Wizard--I'll appear with him ON CAMERA, accepting a printout of THIS challenge--and read it LIVE on TV, so the world will see the face behind Mr. Wizard.

Fake, just like all "magic". I forget the name of the shows, but a masked magician discloses the reality of the tricks. I think it is a Fox show, and is probably on You-tube.
