Question:
Why did Sam Kinison stop being a Christian? Does anyone have a direct quote from the comic himself?

I've always found the topic of apostasy to be very interesting, even more so in the case of Sam Kinison.

"I started saying things in church that didn't meet with a lot of approval—like 'Jesus isn't coming back, they started throwing Bibles." Also, his ministry stopped around the time that he got divorced, his first marriage was by all accounts pretty unhappy. At times he compared his comedy career and his preaching career. His father was a preacher, his brothers were too, so it may have been a family thing he was expected to follow.

I don't know if he totally abandoned his religious beliefs, a lot of people seem to say that he had two sides and the stage act was a persona for him, he still believed in God. He was rebelling however against the fundamentalists and the exploitative tele evangelists, who really started becoming a force in themselves at that time.

Sam had his run ins with partying, drinking and drugs (he reportedly tried to clean up his act later). There's an interesting story about his final moments. http://www.findadeath.com/Deceased/k/kinison/samkinison.htm

Of course not. It may have been from the beginning; but the argument cannot be made that there are no differences in translation; and the "infallible" bible theory kind of dies when people actually read it and find that there are contradictions, not to mention the 400,000 differences in th manuscripts of the NT. However the notion of these making the bible flawed is incorrect also. The bible is to be read by the spirit of God and carried into your heart. Therefore God's perfection is not dependent on the words of the book, but the words as they are carried into your heart through His Holy Spirit. P.S. Unless God was text messaging someone I'm not sure He would have said "I gtg, cya"

Well certainly not the Bible I read, God didn't speak in English.
