Question:
What's up with all these celebrities passing away due to cancer?

First David Bowie, then Alan Rickman, then Celine Dion's husband and brother, and now Dan Haggerty. I know that they passed away due to different kinds of cancers, but it's scary, pathetic and really depressing nonetheless.

I have a theory.

Around the late 60s and early 70s, mass media in the form of radio and television and movies because very affordable. Basically, everyone could afford it. And it's just gotten more afforable since then.

In order to fill the entertainment needs, more artists in the form of musicians and actors had to be used in order to create more music, television shows and movies. From this we got more celebrities and stars. And it hasn't stopped. We have more artists than ever now. Almost anyone is a celebrity. You don't even need talent or hard work to be one.

Before this all we mostly had were some movie stars and some musical acts. So the number of celebrities was quite small.

So 40 or 50 years ago there was a burst of celebrities for us to follow. And now a lot of them are in their 70s or so and they are dying off. Also keep in mind that a lot of these celebrities didn't exactly live clean, quiet lives so the odds are against them living much past the average.

And considering that the number of celebrities has mostly just been increasing, I expect that we'll be seeing more and more old celebrities in the obituary columns.

Cancer doesn't care if you are famous or wealthy or are a celebrity. Doesn't care what age you are or sex or if you are well loved. It just hits some people. You don't get a pass just because you are a celebrity. And as you grow older, you have a higher risk of getting one cancer or another as your various body cells begin to not be as healthy as they once were, begin to malfunction, begin to not be able to fight off stuff as efficiently as they once were able. Cancer happens. The medicos do all they can but we haven't got a magic cure for all cancers all the time. Cancer is an interesting "disease" because it's not something you catch, we still don't know why one day you're perfectly healthy but the next some of your cells have begun to turn cancerous. Identical twins who have had the exact same life (food, drink, sleep, etc.) but then one gets cancer and the other doesn't. Maybe if researchers could find out what the triggers are (and it's most likely that different cancers have different triggers), they might be more able to figure out how to NOT trigger the onset. Personally, I think it's just nature's way of trying to keep the balance on earth because if it weren't cancer taking people out, it'd be something else; we find a cure for one and some new deadly health problem shows up. Nature isn't impressed with fame or fortune or prettiness; everyone has an equal chance. People have always died from cancers, for a long time we just didn't know that's what it was that killed Tommy or Sadie, it was just some internal problem. Now the medicos can usually diagnose cancer but there aren't always cures for it. And although two guys have the exact same cancer, one may be cured with treatment but the other dies from it. ALL anyone can do is live the best life you can, love and be loved, be kind and caring as often as possible.

Because it's an illness that you can't control its just very sad that it happened

A ton of people get cancer everyday so it's not just famous celebrities singers & movies stars & whatever if they decided to list every person that had cancer in 2015 I can assure you that the list would be massive & long but the only think is is that the media of course only mentions if a celebrity has cancer actually they'll mention if a celebrity is sick with anything & died after at first they'll usually keep it a secret cause it is sad to hear about & since most likely if you have cancer your probably gonna die eventually & it's sad

But if you think it's only celebrities that get cancer your wrong

Cancer doesn't care who the heck it hits whether your rich or poor I can get it just as much as Alan Rickman did

Cancer doesn't care how old or young you are, what your race is, female or male, what you've done in your life, whether your an angel or devil doesnt care if your a baby it can hit you

Lots of people pass away with cancer. It doesn't discriminate. Several of the ones you mention had pancreatic cancer where the symptoms aren't there until it is really advanced - so no pain and a full life until the end? Couldn't be better really. There is no secret cure for super-rich.

Our bodies were never built to last indefinitely. It's realistic to last only 65-70 if you are lucky. It's why I find the pension age move so deplorable - David Cameron take note.

All in one week. I think a few other celebrities passed away from cancer this week also. Some experts say it's a particular strain of virus. That makes sense since cervical cancer is linked to HPV(irus) and some cancers in dogs and cats have vaccines. Perhaps there is a virus that damages the mitochondria of cells and that, in turn, somehow flips the cancer switch on.

It's really sad to see people die of a disease that, in my opinion, has made a lot of people in the medical and pharmaceutical industries very rich, and if it weren't for those industries' greed they might have had a cure by now.

May they rest in peace.

Not only these people but also Lemmy (lead singer of Motorhead) died of Cancer two days before the new year!

You would think that because all these people are so rich, they'd be able to beat Cancer (because we all know there is a cure for the rich!)

I don't know why everyone's getting cancer, but my theory is it's something in the air, water and food. The government has to populate control somehow! This is just my opinion.

David Bowie's death has affected me the most, he was my idol, I'm very devastated.

Rest in Peace David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Celine Dion's family members, Dan Haggerty, and Lemmy!

I know probably just as many in this age group also passed away due to cancer or similar. This seriously is nothing new, just that more reliable assessment of medical conditions is more well known in this day. A lower proportion of people die due to injury due to more proficient and advanced surgical procedures. Correct me if I am wrong but I assumed heart conditions and cancer possibly run neck and neck as reasons for mortality. Diet plays a big part with many heart conditions; not all are inherited. There does appear to be a higher proportion of people suffering from dementia though as generally people are living longer; I wonder how much that proportion is increased due to drug taking habits of the baby boomers in the 60s etc. Not many young people consider how these activities may impact upon their mental health in later years, should they live as long.

I don't think gender has much to do with the cancer rate, other than certain types of cancer are more predisposed to one sex than the other. For example, very few men would be likely to have breast cancer whereas females do not testicular cancer.

Cancer is the number 1 killer in the world, one common reasons is due to stress, and emotional disorders because once a person is stress, he or she's mentality will change into a state of panic and so does the body, the cells probably will get crazy and kill one another, eventually once the good cells kill all the bad cells in a certain part of the body, the part will become cancerous.

That's the reason why people that are of high status are more prone to developing cancer due to stress and a unhealthy lifestyle.

The media and people in general act like Celebrities are the only ones who get diseases and die. David Bowie lived to be 70 and never had to worry about where his next meal was coming from or how he'd pay for accommodation or how to keep his children nourished like 99.9% of the population on this planet. Another thing that bothers me is how the media didn't report just how serious the worlds economies were until after the new year. Oh no we don't want to spook consumer confidence at Christmas time after all those commercials pay their wages.

1.Drugs and booze 2.Hard Livin and life on the road, stress, lack of sleep ect, poor food choices, and they did this for many years. 3. Gay *** sex with and the hidden diseases and complications that come with it. 4. Poor crash diets. Celebs are skinny. They have personal trainers now for that. They used to just have a big bag of amphetamines or cocaine and not eating for weeks. You do the math. Those type of "diets," are cancer magnets, but also so are celeb trainer diets, if you're crashing every year, and many of them have to, or they'd look like regular, chubby, middle aged people, because that's the age they are. It's not just them. One of my relatives, after her kids finished college, got down to her high school weight through a diet program. She was being monitored by a doctor, but she looked like a raisin at that weight who had cancer. So she gained back like 30 pounds and looked great, better than ever! Two years later she had a massive heart attack and died. I think it was the diet. There is a reason the young are slim, the middle aged are usually chubby and the old are thin. I think if you mess with that too much, you're asking for trouble. And that's what we've started to do, no one wants to look old and a fat is being played as the ultimate health problem. But their isn't much research on the middle aged being totally slim and it seems that it's killing some of them. 5. The stress that comes with being a terrible and or/terribly controlling person. Anyone who has ever worked with people in TV, celebrities, ect, knows that many are very different people in person. Combine that with that, if you are terrible, you can usually get away with being terrible to people and doing terrible things to people, like sleeping with their spouses, and it takes it's toll. You may get away with it, but you'll know you're terrible and that will cause terrible stress and that will lead right to cancer. 5. Bum luck of the draw. Some people get cancer no matter what, so enjoy life while you can. And be kind to others if possible. The life you're saving may be your own, by feeling better about yourself and having less stress.

Everybody does, they don't make a big deal about it when your not a celebrity. You don't want cancer? Don't eat the low fat, high carb, high sugar diet that your told is "healthy". Cancer cells are sugar fueled. Ask any survivor that's been treated at one of the bigger centers like Cancer Centers of America or Johns Hopkins that treat you from all angles, you basically go on Atkins because it cuts the fuel to the cancer cells. It's not a guarantee, but it seriously improves your odds. The fact Cancer has become the new natural way to die is disturbing.

It reminds us of our mortality. There is no one above death, not even celebrities who society likes to deem some special breed of person. Cancer doesn't discrimate. Celebrities are not immune to diseases and terminal illnesses just like ordinary people in this world. It's just that cancer is common disease among the human race. The fact is that there is a lot of attention given if a celebrity or a well know figure in the community dies from it. No one wants to hear about an deadbeat drug addict, a sixty year old homeless man who died from cancer or a young child who died at ten from a terminal illness.

I get the impression that talented people and celebrities get more attention in the media than the ordinary hard working low paid citizens in this society.

people die from cancer everyday. It's really not surprising that those 6 people would die of cancer in a relatively short time span. It's not as though they had much to do with each other. I could see if Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt Leblanc all passed from different kinds of cancer a few days apart...that would be amazing. But Celine Dion's brother and Alan Rickman? Please...

Some say that celeb's die in groups of 3, and of course that is not exactly true. But having so many, all from cancer, it is a bit eerie. And it just reinforces the thought that we should all do what we want with our lives and not put things off. In any case, good luck to the rest of us, let us be happy in that we still have some time. And for the others, RIP.

My own father died of cancer this NYE just gone. (i'm only 20) It's a very common illness... 1 in 3 people affected by it whether it's themselves, family or friends. It's a very hard illness to treat and control, and can become terminal if not treated quickly.

Almost all human cancers are due to exposure to exogenous irritants, e.g. causes outside the body: added chemicals in our food (preservatives, etc.), water (due to water treatment, pollution, mercury), air (air pollution, smoking), and daily use (paints, gasoline fumes from pumping gas, plastics, etc.) While genes can predispose one to getting cancer (e.g. BRCA1, BRCA2 genes for breast cancer), there is usually an environmental initiator of some sort, although some cancers have idiopathic origins.

So why are so many celebrities getting cancer? For the same reasons that so many people are getting cancer: we are living longer, and in an increasingly industrialized world already crowded with other people. More people means more industry and more pollution and chemical additives in our food, air, water, environment, work, home, school products. So greater chance of exogenous products contacting us, and leading to cancer after a long time (we are living longer and that makes cancers more likely to arise).

Cancer hits all people of all ethnicities. As far as Glenn Grey and Bowie, they were too young and freaked me out as my husband is now 60. My father in law a surgeon, smoked cigars all of his life, didn't get throat cancer till he was 90 and passed at age 92. Ranges from babies to old people and everyone in between.

The short answer is this, if drugs, sex and the rock and roll lifestyle doesn't kill you, something has to. Cancer is killing many, many people in part because people are living long enough to get cancer. Our cells can only reproduce so many times before a mutation occurs, and when that happens the possibility for cancer increases significantly.

Cancer strikes indiscriminately, and can even affect some of the most famous people in the world. This is a list of famous people who died of cancer, including photos, birth dates, professions, and other information. These celebrities who died by cancer are listed alphabetically and include the famous cancer victims’ hometown and biographical info about them when available. Famous people with cancer who later passed away from the disease include Lyn Nofziger, George Low, and more. All of those who have died recently were in their early 60s - as far as I know, they were all smokers of tobacco - smoking cuts about fifteen years off a person's life expectancy.

Some eight million people die of cancer every year world wide. But then that's only the pop of London here in UK.

Years of tobacco, alcohol, sugar use and abuse etc. the pesticides in our crop foods making their way to our dinner table. I believe that those are the leading causes of cancer. 70 is not old either. I want to hit mid 90's at least like all of my grandparents did.

Diet is the key in my opinion. Most of everyone who lived well into their 90's never worked out, but they ate right.

celebrities are imperfect just like everyone else. They can get sick and die. I am personally feel sorry for Celine Dion and their children. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:5 and 6 that the living know that they will die but the dead know nothing at all... They cannot feel any pain. They are in a deep sleep awaiting resurrection. The Bible says in John 5: 28, 29

"Do not be amazed at this for the hour is coming in which all those in memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. What a joyous day it will be to see our dead loved ones

I think you will find that people die of Cancer every minute of every day. It is simply coincidence that some people in the public eye died close together. That is not a mystery it is a fact of life (or death in this case).

If cancer gets you, you do not really have a choice of when to die it happens when it happens.

Instead of thinking about the famous people who have died but have lived lives beyond our wildest dreams, spare a thought for the thousands of unknown people who have died through cancer at the same time but will go unnoticed.

Daniel, what you are experiencing is celebrity coincidence. People die of cancer every day, and Big C does not discriminate between male and female. What was NOT on the press radar heavily was that these folk were DYING of cancer. It is not a sudden killer. You are just experiencing the surprise/shock that they did months/years ago as they began the march to the end.

As eerie as it seems, sometimes celebrities die in groups of three or more within a short amount of time. It seems to be just fate that determines their dates of death here. If Alan Rickman passed away in March or even June, no one would be spinning about these conspiracy theories of "they're all dying at the same age, of the same thing, at the same time."

people with fame and fortune are able to indulge their appetites to a greater degree than the rest of us.

years of cocaine use, sleep deprivation from all-night parties, and sex with multiple partners -- all take a toll on the body.

the human papilloma virus can cause cancer many years after infection.

cocaine is a suspected long-term carcinogen.

sleep deprivation is a KNOWN cause of cancer.

Causes of cancer Include genetic factors, lifestyle factors such as tobacco use, diet and physical activity; certain types of infections an environmental exposure to different types of chemicals and radiation.

So breast cancer and prostate cancer could be said to be genetic.

Lifestyle includes tobacco use, alcholl consumption, diet not eating fruit and green vegatables - eating processed food especially those containing preservatives and smoked or Processed like bacon sausages smoked fish.

Physical inactivity, sexual acquired cancers; environmental exposures such as asbestos pvc.

Just lost 2 dear friends from it last year. they were late 60's, early 70's. I think its age related, partially heredity (genes losing it), environmentally related and finally "choice" related (smoking, drugs (this includes the big baddy alcohol that 80% of adults in the the world have an "issue" with)). live "clean" and you're chances of living longer/healthier go up dramatically. if it tastes good don't eat it. also think salt (things that live in the sea don't get it). also think alkaline (Cancer doesn't like it either). yeah you want your PH to be as close to 7.4 as possible.

Cancer is an epidemic, especially here in the United States. There are cancerous chemicals such as polonium on every genetically modified fruit and vegetable, there is fluoride and bleach in our drinking water, our livestock are pumped full of poisons and bred to be so fat their bones break, our nuclear power leaks into the environment killing off numerous small towns with cancer, we have old mines that have created mountains of lead chaff killing off additional small towns, and finally we are drilling miles into the earth and pumping cocktails of chemicals into the abyss where it taints our entire underground water plates. We are all ******.
?
2016-01-17 21:35:51 UTC
well you use "celebrities" but that is used for people in the spotlight. There are many others who are dying but aren't in the spotlight. it is just bad luck that two people in the spotlight have died. Plus those men were in their late stage of lives so maybe how they lived their lives have inadvertently led to cancer. They didn't know things we know now.

Stress is what causes cancer of the worst kind. Many movie stars are stressed out. The pressure of being an idol, or trying out for a part in a movie, or wanting to be adored by your fans, or trying to get a fan club, etc., etc.. It all adds up to stress and any kind of terminal illness. That is not for me.

The fact that they are celebrities is probably what drew your attention. However, the fact that they are mostly in my generation - that group in or at the end of the "baby boom" probably has more to do with it. My generation is earning the combined wages of our life-styles, life-spans of 50 or more years, and heritage. I have lost two brothers-in-law in the last few years. In my wider circle, I have friends who have cancer. It is just that stage of life, I think, rather than any increase in the rate.

What's up with all these celebrities passing away due to cancer? Pray to John the Baptist. Pray to greatmartyr and healer Panteleimon. Pray to Grigorij "Novyj" Rasputin. If you cross your head (back of the head, front of the head, right temple, left temple), then the headache will go away. Plus blood is purified. To make upright perpendicular cross: using your right hand in the following way (picture below) cross yourself: touch firmly your forehead and say "In the name of the Father", touch firmly 1cm-2cm above belly button and say "and of the Son", touch firmly right shoulder (where 3 bones meet) and say "and of the Holy", touch firmly left shoulder (where 3 bones meet) and say "Spirit". Hand down: "Amen." Feet together.

According to Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov, vodka dries one's brains. Smoking is censer for the devil. People who use drugs see demons who cleverly disguise themselves as aliens. Vaccines, IVs, tooth fillings, cosmetics, certain foods and drinks, medicaments, etc. contain nanochips and/or cells of aborted fetuses; intake of which leads to demon possession. If a dog is present in house or church, then the Holy Spirit will leave. Foul language calls upon Pagan deities (demons); Holy Spirit departs on seven meters. Blood contains sins; don't donate blood; don't accept blood transfusion yourself.

Raw celandine (juice) cures cancer in minute amounts (like eating a leaf a day for 10 days, taking a break for 10 days, repeating three times); store this raw juice in dark glass container in a fridge for up to 2 or 3 years; add only hot water if you don't want to drink it cold; collect older celandine that is at least 20 meters away from the river from morning until 3 PM. Zodiac is planetary prison of demons; don't believe in horoscopes or you'll exhibit the traits of the trapped demons. Luck = Moloch = demon; don't wish people luck, please. Chanting mantras leads to demon possession; it's not the words that get you possessed; it's the rhythm. Meditation, hypnosis, astral projection, etc. lead to demon possession. Demons pretend to be ghosts and aliens. Barcode is Druid black magic curse. Most thoughts and dreams are from demons; demons never do good.

Oral, anal, masturbation, porn, fornication, adultery, fetishes, cross dressing, etc. lead to demon possession. Sionists want to be the only white people. So, they promote contraceptives (early abortion), interracial marriage, homosexuality, abortion (aborted babies go to hell for 33 and a half years and a demon is freed from hell), etc. America will be last country to switch to Euro (antichrist's world currency). Sionists want to attack Iran. So, they need an excuse, which will be the Statue of Liberty. New Sodom (New York) will be flooded after an explosion in the sea; New Gomorah (Los Angeles) will follow after. Look at what Seraphim Rose had to endure. He was a homosexual, but repented. Now, he is one the great saints of the Orthodox Church. Pray to Seraphim Rose; he'll help you. Give to charity in the name of Archangel Michael; he rescues people from hell twice a year (or brings them up a level, that is, to a level with less punishment; eventually, people are freed). Feed the pigeons; when pigeons bow down, people are saved from hell. Birds participate in time creation. It's a sin to kill birds. Dinosaurs live under our level.

They will get out through sinkholes and lakes. To kill them, go for their nerves. Save the birds; but kill the dinosaurs. First dinosaur will come out of Volga River in Russia. Since antichrist (born to a 12th generation prostitute, flying, big-nailed, gloved, pale-faced, red-eyed, Satan-possessed since he's 12 years old, homosexual man from the tribe of Dan, who wears blue robe over left shoulder while red/pink robe is underneath just like Jesus, and is surrounded by demons but people see angels of light) is around, there is no need for disputes. 666 is not forgivable; it leads to permanent hell. 666 is given with World Passport with no name on it (grey plastic card). Police 666 people on highways. Food stores and prisoners (released by the antichrist) 666 people too. Reject vaccines. Don't go into UFO to be healed by demons. Hide with Orthodox Christians to escape 666; leave all electronics behind so that antichrist's minions can't track you.

Stay away from cats because one can receive mark of the beast because of cats. Pray the Jesus prayer slowly all the time. Sleep fully clothed; also, pray to your guardian angel to have normal sleep. Dress appropriately for your gender. Women wear non-revealing dresses and head-scarfs tied at the front; no pants and no hats for women. Men wear pants and hats (outside only, except priests). Don't get any tattoos. Reject new documents and vaccines. Ask Orthodox Christian priest to bless your house. Get rid of all Occult stuff (ouija boards, talismans, amulets, barcodes, skulls, masks, astrology books, tarot cards, etc.). To break any curse, pray slowly the Psalm "The LORD is my light and my salvation" 40 times a day for 40 straight days. That's 1600 times in total. Forgive me.
