Tori Amos. I was a fan of sarah before I knew tori, and I had always and will always admire Sarah's musical talent and singing skills. But, she tends to have the same sound in every single one of her albums. Her lyrics are beautiful, but simple. Tori, on the other hand, better pianist by far. To me, better lyricist, because she uses more symbolism and metaphors. It's hard to say on vocals. Sarah's vocals are more earthy, and she has an amazing vocal range, but Tori is more unique. For high notes, I think fear, by sarah mclachlan shows that she can do it. But most of the time, sarah stays in one range each song. Tori will push the song with different octaves. Tori is also more into experementing. She will try new sounds. Again, sarah is safe.
Over all, Tori wins for me.

Sarah McLachlan because she is a wonderful artist and I don't know if I've ever heard Tori Amos before.

First, I like both.
Tori Amos can be a little out there sometimes. You never know what you'll get with her. She can be incredible or leave you scratching your head saying, "What was that?"
Sarah McLachlan is softer and totally mainstream but her lyrics are the best!!
I choose Sarah as her song Elsewhere is on my top ten list.
