If elvis presley was still alive at the time... what do you think Elvis presley would had been upto.. perhaps new movies? more new songs ? retired over time ?

My conclusion is... if elvis was still alife in late 1977... he would had defently another tour concert for nye 1977-78

Then he would had somehow go take a holiday some where..

He would then re-tour a concert overseas obviously later in 1978 but its not until 1980 he would had most likely made a come back special to all his good music of the past 10 years of 1970-1979 where he would bring back a retro special come back music tour of elvis of all 1970s
With 3 new songs been made within 1978-1980.

He would defently go overseas concert tour as it was then pretty much known around the globe... he would had visited countries and do tv interviews...

Tv interviews would had been from 1978 till that point 1980.

From the 80s he would had apear a few times on the series of DALLAS....

He would sort of do more concerts but defently tired of it over time but his concerts would only be special ones of the remembering his past years such as the 50s 60s 70s and some of the 80s.

From 1989 he would had been slowly retired with what his upto. specialy at his age.. He would defently look unfit and truely fat.... But he would play more with the guitar and experiment some instrumentals.. rather then standing up and shaking around.

He would sort of apear one time or more with some of the famours female singers such as the titanic song i the 90s.. but it is until elvis died in 1996 or 1997 when he finaly came to rest.

So what do you think ?

Think perspective point of you... look at how many same age famours males stars from the same time 1977 as elvis age vs to what and how long they went thru the 80s and 90s until death... you can compare some elements like that.

do tell us yours.

He never would have been able to live this long anyway with the lifestyle he lived.

Just prior to his death he talked about wanting to get off the drugs and get in shape so he could tour Europe in 1978. His ambitions to tour worldwide were well known by friends and staff. His jumpsuit designer Bill Belew had ideas for a special suit "The Laser Suit" so Elvis would wow the audiences in Europe. He had the drawings done and was about to show them to him just before he died.

Reservations from his manager and Elvis's own doubts about critical acceptance outside North America held him back, despite that he was in high demand for concert tours all around the globe. His manager turned down many lucrative offers throughout Elvis's entire career, for reasons only now released after Elvis's death. Colonel Tom was an illegal immigrant and feared that if he went outside the U.S he wouldn't be welcomed back. The Colonel also was weary of overseas managers influencing him by giving him more perscpetive on the business side of his career. Elvis wasn't fully aware of how shiftly the Colonel was. His manager toke millions away from Elvis. The percentage of Elvis's money his manager got was well above the industry average.

The Colonel was offered a million dollars by an Australian concert promoter in 1974 for Elvis to do 3 shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

I think he would have stopped touring by the mid 80's and returned to making films, but still would have kept doing studio albums mostly country and gospel I think. Elvis wouldn't have updated his music to appeal to the younger audiences, this would have made the possibility of more #1's and top ten hits very doubtful.

Elvis tried to always keep his music grounded in his roots (country, rock n roll, gospel and blues). He made a vow after the 68 comeback special to never again record or perform a song he didn't believe in. Most of the pop music he made in the 60's for his movies went against his wishes. The Colonel thought by making Elvis family freindly he would broaden his appeal and make him more money.

The Colonel also thought it would help make Elvis's career more long lasting and avoid him from being just a fad from the 50's rock and roll boom.

Elvis hated hippies, hard rock and the psychedelic trends of the late 60's and 70's. I think he would have stayed the same. I think his fashion sense would have adapted with the times and he would have stopped wearing jumpsuits. He would have returned to making movies in the mid 80's because that was the key area of his career that he was the most unsatisfied. He wanted to make serious films that had grit and addressed social issues, but he also loved comedy films and I believe could have been success in that field too. He was a huge fan of Peter Sellers films and his all time favourite film was Monty Python's The Holy Grail. A copy of the film was in the VCR in the TV room at Graceland the day he died. He had watched the film over 50 times and would recite the dialogue verbatim for family and friends.

He loved karate and was one of the first to popularise it in hollywood films. He loved martial arts films especially Bruce Lee ones. He wanted to make a documentary about the sport. The project got shelfed in 1973 due to his bad health.

I like your theory. I think if he wouldn't have died when he did, by today, he would have died recently, or he would be retired.
