Yeah, and "Alba" is a Hispanic last name. Her father is Mexican-American. Check wikipedia.

Well I'm mixed (my mother's a white European woman and my father is African-American) and many people call me black and mistake me for being African-American which I CAN'T STAND. Maybe the reason why Hollywood claims Jessica as a white woman is because she is half white and she is a Hollywood actor (high social class). She may look full Hispanic to you but to me, I think she looks both ways. She is rich and she is not your average Mexican woman, she also doesn't want to be considered Hispanic just as I hate to be considered black.

Shes hispanic. but she doesn't like to be reffered as such. Thats why Perez Hilton calls her Jessica "don't call me latina" Alba.

She's of Hispanic descent, but it's pretty diluted. She chooses to identify herself as a white woman.

But uh... who cares? She's pretty.

Alba was born in Pomona, California, the daughter of Catherine (née Jensen), who is Danish American on her father's side and French American on her mother's side, and Mark Alba, who is Mexican American (though both of his parents were born in California). don't pigeon hole someone so quickly. Give it a thousand years and we'll all be kinda latte coloured due to the races mixing so much! yay!

She is probably both.

During the 1970s, the United States Government defined the term "Hispanic" to identify Latin American individuals, and their descendants, living in the U.S., regardless of race.

The ethnic label Hispanic was the result of efforts by a New Mexican U.S. Senator, Joseph Montoya, who wanted a label that could be used to quantify the Spanish-speaking population for the US Census. The label Hispanic was chosen in part because in New Mexico, people of Spanish descent such as Montoya referred to themselves as hispanos which was anglicized as "Hispanic".

The U.S. Office of Management and Budget currently defines "Hispanic or Latino" as "a person of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race".
