He was a great musician. A musician's musician - he never sought fame, fortune or publicity. His playing was the epitome of 'less is more' and was integral to the Pink Floyd sound. Hopefully, he'll now be playing the 'Great Gig in the Sky' with Syd Barrett. He will be sorely missed.

It was a sad day for all of us Pink Floyd fans (yes, Cookie Monster was a fan too!). Actually, Cookie Monster has had a few "special cookies" in his day, and popped in a few Pink Floyd CD's.
We love you Rick...
RIP

Just heard this myself, and was stunned. I was not aware he had been ill. It appears that reunion in '06 will be even more historic than ever. Really sad and sobering news. A overlooked force in the band. Lets' face it there would really be nothing to 'Wish You Were Here' or even 'Animals' without him.

I'm so saddened by our loss.
He has "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun"
(I'm going to go home and blast UmmaGumma tonight in his honor.)
